Characteristics of Computer

Characteristics of Computer :

High Speed: Computers can perform complex calculations in seconds whereas  if the same task is done manually it might take hours.

Accuracy: Human beings can commit errors but computers ensure accuracy.

Storage: A Computer can store a large amount of data in a small space and retrieve the information instantly and correctly when desired.

Easy to Handle: Computer just need a  set of instructions to work efficiently. It makes working easier rather than doing a huge amount of paperwork.

Diligence: Being machine, the computer never gets bored, tired or loses or lacks concentration etc.

Logical Decision: Computer can take logical decisions as per the instructions provided to them.

Reliability: Computers are very reliable if you provide them correct instruction. However, if you give them wrong instructions then you cannot expect the correct output.

Hardware and Software:

Hardware:

Hardware refers to the physical parts of the computer.

Examples:

            Electronic circuits of the computer, CPU, Disk Drives, Input and Output devices.

Software:

            Software refers to the computer programs, these programs are used to run and control the software.

Examples:

            All user programs are Application programs and system programs.
